About the course

This course is designed to be a very basic introduction to the Koine Greek of the ancient world. It is geared towards anyone with an interest in the ancient Greek culture and language.

This mini-course is an overview of the Koine Greek language that looks at its essential building blocks. At the end of this course (and with a little practice), you will:

     > Understand the historical context of Koine Greek

     > Identify letters, accents and breathing marks

     > Read words aloud

It is also important to note what this mini course will not do. For example, if your desire is to be able to read and understand the words that you are reading (translate), this mini-course will give you the building blocks towards that goal, but further study will be required.
